Storytelling Through Sculpture

$325

This 4-session class will be taught by Russ Ford, local sculptor and twice recipient of Washington Art Educator of the year award. It is designed for participants who wish to tell a personal story through the creation of a tableau of clay figures or figurines. We all have stories that are precious and meaningful to us. Working to develop these into a visible narrative creates a lasting artifact that can be shared by many. The objective is to develop these stories employing the elements of figurative sculpture bringing your character(s) to life.

This is a once-a-week course that lasts for 8 weeks. It’s a perfect class for beginners or for those looking to refresh their skills. Students will explore sculpture, slab work, the characteristics of clay, making altered vessels and creating houses out of stiff slab construction etc.
