Our Hand-building class is open to beginning and continuing students!
This is a once-a-week course that lasts for 8 weeks. It’s a perfect class for
beginners or for those looking to refresh their skills. Students will explore
sculpture, slab work, the characteristics of clay, making altered vessels and
creating houses out of stiff slab construction etc.
You’ll also learn to glaze your pieces. Stephanie will introduce dipping, brushing &
using oxides & underglazes as well as applying unglaze transfers. She will talk
about the different characteristics of glossy and satin & sculptural type glazes as
well. Upon completion of this class, you will have a basic understanding of
ceramic terms, different hand-building techniques as well as glazing and surface
texture techniques. This class is also recommended for those who are looking to
make friends, as it is a fun and social environment!!
Time: Class is every Wednesday from 10am-noon (4 hours total of open studio)
