weekly raku lab
spirit animal masks
$55
Choose from a wide variety of dates and times to make a spirit animal mask at Kadence in preparation for our monthly First Friday Art Walk Raku firings. The class is two parts: on the first you will sculpt your mask (no experience required!) and for the second you’ll return on the first Friday of the month to glaze and watch your piece transform in the kiln. Raku is a form on Japanese pit firing which we do in our back parking lot, from 3-8pm. You can walk in any time during the 3-8pm window to start glazing your piece, and expect to be here about 1.5 hours and take your mask home that day!

Linocut Class w/Devon
$99
Have you ever wondered how people make prints like the ones pictured? Linoleum block printing is a technique where an image is carved into a piece of artist's linoleum, similar to the kind you might find on a floor, then printed on paper using various kinds of ink. Think of it like a giant rubber stamp!
It emerged as an alternative to woodblock printing, which is much more labor intensive. It is a simple and fun way to explore printmaking. In roughly 3 hours I will teach you about the basics and guide you through the process of carving and printing your very own 3x3 linoleum block on either paper, fabric, or both.
Drawing skills are NOT necessary for this class.
